    Hey guys,

I'm having the same issue related here https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/machine-not-getting-through-winpe40-x86, I did as told by BBC and Thomas Baird but the issue remains. I did take a look at folder X:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Deployment\SBS\Bootwiz\{374E1C49-4F58-4F5C-8D51-07A30F0D44AD}\cache\bootwiz\Platforms\WinPE\x86\Drivers\CUSTOM\Drivers and the drivers I added are actually there, I deleted all the drivers in the STD folder and recreated the Preboot via bootwiz and no luck at all.

My licenses have AUP expired (they're since a month ago, and I'm thinking this is kinda related, although senior consultants tell me there's no relation at all).

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks for any help!

This looks like a driver problem at first glance. What model are you trying to image and what drivers are you using?

    Hi ianatkin,

Per your reply, I researched over e1d62x64.INF for a Dell Latitude E6440. I guess this driver is for WinPE 3.0 x64. So I looked here http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/enterprise-client/w/wiki/4376.winpe-4-0-driver-cab and now I'm adding WinPE 4.0 x86 drivers. Let's give it a try!

Humpf, I think that was not it.

    Look: Capturar.JPG

I tried to upload it via DriverManager.exe and it tells me those drivers are already included. I'm without any leads :/ .

That's a lot of drivers! You can be a little more refined if you have a system pre-installed by Dell. Just look at the network card in device manager and then look it's device id (or use my driver profiler).

Then you should be able to look at the driver cab and then find the location of the inf file that has the string DEV_xxxx where xxxx is the device ID you found. Helps gain confidence that what you are doing might actually work!

    Kind Regards,
    Ian./

Hey nice work with that article!!

Are you familiar with DriverMAX? http://www.drivermax.com/

I actually use it every time to get drivers and put them in Altiris. It really works smooth.

Well, I used your script and I got e1d62x64.INF. Same driver located in that bootwiz folder. Is there a way to see the drivers on a WinPE image? How can I make sure the drivers located here X:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Deployment\SBS\Bootwiz\{374E1C49-4F58-4F5C-8D51-07A30F0D44AD}\cache\bootwiz\Platforms\WinPE\x86\Drivers\ are going to be in WinPE after recreating preboot environment?

I still think there's something strange going on cos last customer I was at, 7.5 HF6 worked perfectly uploading Latitude E6440 drivers at first. The only difference from both environments is expired licenses, at least at first.

DriveMAX site has been pointed out to me before.. the problem we had was that systems would arrive from Dell with an OS level one higher than we wanted. So any driver harvesting application was pointless...

The e1d62x64.INF driver rings a bell ..... I'm sure I had an issue getting mine to work in WinPE. Can you pass me the device id and I can throw you the driver I eventually got working in my environment?

Re the AUP expiry should only affect Patch Management in CMS as the PMImport won't trigger without a valid license.

Odd turnover. After I uploaded (un)successfully those drivers, I noticed network traffic from my NS to my PSs. Turns out BDC package was being updated. Now I'm seeing a lot of new drivers here ?:\Program Files\Altiris\Deployment\BDC\bootwiz\Platforms\WinPE\x86\Drivers\, on both STD and CUSTOM folders, in NS.

Gonna wait till the upload to the PSs finishes and gonna try again.

    Well.. don't give up yet..

Looking at your DriverProfiler output I've been able to isolate this driver in my automation driver source. Open up the attached zip file and the one you want to add is e1d63x64.inf (that's got entries relating to a device ID of 153A)

    Good Luck!

    Kind Regards,
    Ian./

HA! Good to know this thing is working and it was only a matter of the right driver. Ian, thanks a lot for taking your time searching for the right one!

    Take care man!
