Hi All,

I have an issue trying to make structure backup configuration with vxconfigbackupd.

See Below

#vxconfigbackupd -l  /tmp/bk
VxVM vxconfigbackupd ERROR V-5-2-6007 Usage: vxconfigbackupd [ -l ]

SO Linux Redhat 6.4
Veritas Storage Foundation 6.0

On Solaris it was working fine.

I appreciate any help

Thanks in Advance

Alejandro

According to manual, valid syntax (https://sort.symantec.com/public/documents/sfha/6.0.1/linux/manualpages/html/man/volume_manager/html/man1m/vxconfigbackupd.1m.html) is:

vxconfigbackupd [-l]

where as for vxconfigbackup (WITHOUT d at the end) the valid syntax is:

/etc/vx/bin/vxconfigbackup [-f] [-l directory] [[dgname ...] | [dgid ...]]

The man page for vxconfigbackupd, also says

The default backup directory is /etc/vx/cbr/bk. The location of the backup directory can be configured by using the vxconfigbackup -l backup_directory_path command.

So you need to use either:

vxconfigbackupd -l

or

vxconfigbackup -l /tmp/bk

This is the same on Solaris too.

Refer this article

http://sfdoccentral.symantec.com/sf/5.0/aix/manpag...

If you run

# vxconfigbackupd -l              you can not specify any path manually

-l

Logs backup daemon activies to the file /etc/vx/cbr/bkdaemonLog.
