This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

I received an error on one of my EV servers Event ID 45076

Event Type:       Error

Event Source:    Enterprise Vault

Event Category: Admin Service

Event ID:           45076

Date:                10/4/2010

Time:                9:46:10 AM

User:                N/A

Computer:         EVSERVER6

Description:

The slave process for the NetApp placeholder named: EvNetAppPhSvr.exe is not responding and will be restarted

So I can send items back to the filer via archive explorer but placeholders will not work, it sounds like there is an issue with the fpolicy on the filer and the EVNetAppPhSvr.exe  cannot re-connect. Has anyone seen this before? I have been working with support but have hit the wall so far, thought while it is being escalated I would see if anyone has been down this road before? It sounds more like a filer issue than EV to me but???

Thanks,

Travis

Check if the ev-placeholder

Check if the ev-placeholder FPolicy is registered on the NetApp filer.

Anything on evnetappphsvr dtrace?

So that is the funny thing

So that is the funny thing when it tries to register, the files says it is already registered and refuses the connection. I worked with our filer guys and they recreated the fpolicy and we see the same thing. Dtrace shows this:

16         12:08:44.336     [4944]  (EvNetAppPHSvr)           <3628> EV:M    check_na_invoke_result: res = 0x333b, error = 0x333b (A policy named ev-placeholder already exists. )

So not sure what is up here, if it is a Netapp issue or an EV issue. I sent the last dtrace in to support so I will have to see what we find.

Thanks,

Travis

So we worked with the filer

So we worked with the filer guys to blow away and recreate the fpolicy. After doing this I did not see any change and still could not recall placeholders, then we realized that I was testing from the EV server. Just incase you did not know You CANNOT recall placeholders that reside on a filer while you are logged into the EV server. So you much access them from another location.
