Issues getting Advanced Cube Reporting to install
Updated: 29 Jul 2010 | 10 comments
Has anyone got this part of the install to work correctly? I always seem to get the "Analysis Services Database connection failed due to an error: A connection cannot be made to redirector. Ensure that "SQL Browser" service is running or else "Analysis Connection cannot be made. Ensure the server is running". In both cases I have followed the instructions on that part of the install and confirmed that the SQL Browser service and the server is running. I unchecked that part of the install in order to proceed with the Service Desk install but would like to revisit it if anyone has any ideas.

Hi jhallam3
I've verified that the Service Desk server was in the SQL server administrator group as I did this right away when I was setting up the SQL server. The SQL server is off box and maybe I'll try reinstallig it again to see if it works. Thanks again for the advice.

Did you install the ADOM components
Did you install the ADOM components? If you select to install Cube reporting a popup shows where to download them from.

Installed ADOM components but still not working
I've followed the pop-up window instructions and still can't manage to get this part of the install to work. I've tried reinstalling SD7 3 times and the same error message occurs. My SQL box is Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition (64-bit) and running SQL Server 2005 (64-bit) and my SD7 box is Windows 2003 R2 Standard Edition (64-bit).

I also have all that components for sql installed but still getting error..
my sql server is out of box and its on windows server 2003 sp2 (32bit) and running SQL server 2005, i am using it for both, notification server and service desk.
I skipped that step in installation and then i can`t create or save incidents..
Here is a summary of
Here is a summary of Installation Steps for Stand Alone SQL server
On the ServiceDesk 7 Server you need to install the following:
• Microsoft SQL Server Native Client x64 version.
• Microsoft ADOMD.NET x64 version.
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection x64 version.
On the SQL Server you need to perform the following:
Install SQL with Database, Reporting and Analysis services. Also install the SQL Server 2005 Management Objects Collection (you can download those from Microsoft look for SQLServer2005_XMO.msi or SQLServer2005_XMO_x64.msi for 64-bit installs)
• SQL Server and ServiceDesk 7 Server must be on an Active Directory Domain.
• Run setspn** on MSOLAPsvc.3 service to the SQL Servers hostname i.e. setspn –a MSOLAPsvc.3\MyDBServer MyDBServer (“This is necessary so that the ActiveDirectory authentication for Anaylsis Services can happen via OLAP.
• The ServiceDesk 7 computer account needs to be added to the local administrators group on the SQL Server i.e. If my ServiceDesk 7 Server hostname=”SD7Server” then I would add that account as a member in the local administrators group on the SQL Server. This is another reason why you must be within an Active Directory

Same errors as well
I think that the error message comes up if you did not pass the requirements for the cube reporting and continue the install without it. I still haven't been able to get the cube reporting to work and followed the steps provided by RDutch12 and even tried installing SQL on the same servers as SD7 but still won't pass the requirements.
