  • 1.  Issues with Sygate Protection Agent and VMware

I am having issues getting protection agent working with some current testing I am completing.

I cannot get SPA to work on a host machine when the host has a VMware image running ( the VMware image has SPA installed as well). When I install SEA on the host instead of SPA it seems to work fine.

I uninstalled SPA from the VMware image running and tried to re-install SPA just on the host. When I try to boot the VM image it crashes. Does anyone know of any issues with SPA running on a host in a VM environment ?

    thanks,

    C.

We have ~1,000 laptops that run SSEP and have VMWare images that run on them.  The Virtual machines are linux, and do not run any kind of AV or firewall.  I do hear complaints of the SMC service crashing once in a blue moon on some of the laptops, but nothing that matches what you are describing.

I have also used VMWare and MS Virtual PC images on a host running SSEP, also with the Virtual Machines running SSEP, without any consistent issues.

I have heard complaints of VMWare images/machines running slow while SSEP was installed, but I have never witnessed it personally...
