  • 1.  IT Analytics Automatic Reporting

I'm currently leading a proof of concept for IT Analytics and there definitely seems to be some useful reporting capabilities.  However, has anyone in this thread been able to configure automatic reporting?  In DLP you can configure reports to generate monthly, weekly, daily, etc., but I can't seem to find that functionality in ITA.  If anyone has any idea if that is a possibility, please let me know.

    Thanks!

ITA Reports are not like DLP Reports.

DLP Reports are run directly against the DLP database, drawing from the data available in the DLP database at the time the report is run.

ITA Reports do not reference the direct data when run, they use cached data collected from DLP when the OLAP Cube is processed in the SQL Analysis Server.

As such, there is no 'schedule' that a report is run. When you open a report in ITA, it is SQL Reporting Services looking at the OLAP Cube data from SQL Analysis Server. That data may be 5 minutes or 5 days old - depending upon when the cube (and its measures) were last processed.

Delivering reports via email to users can be handled using Subscriptions in the Reporting Services instance - (see SQL Reporting Services). You can also leverage the Reporting Services instance to publish these reports to other locations within your environment e.g. SharePoint, Intranet etc.

I agree with MThrift.  Once you create and save an ITA report, you will see it appear in the web interface of SQL reporting services.  From there, click the option to subscribe and choose the delivery method and schedule.  I've used this to send out emails with excel charts and it has worked out nicely.

I have an article on creating report subscriptions for ITA here:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/creating-report-subscriptions-it-analytics

You'll first have to create the report itself to be hosted by Reporting Services, utilizing the underlying ITA cube(s) and I have some examples here:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/advanced-reporting-it-analytics-data-loss-prevention-content-pack

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/advanced-reporting-it-analytics-symantec-endpoint-protection-content-pack

    Hope that helps.
