IT Analytics - Can't create new reports
Following the instructions from the "ALTIRIS™ IT Analytics Solution 6.1 Help" Creating New Reports: from the configuration tab I click Report Setup then click the Report Builder tab the press the Launch Report Builder button. Then it downloads a file "ReportBuilder.application" but I don't know what to do then. Has anyone done this before? Thanks,
Mark
Does your solution from the other article fix this as well?
So to summarize, to run IT Analytics the client machine needs the following:
Office web components 11
ADOMD.NET (.NET data provider)
MS XML 6
OLE DB 9
all of these are on the "Feature Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2005" page of the Microsoft download center
(Just wondering if you tried this after the prereqs were installed)

nope this is still happening
everything else seems to be working so i don't really have any clues. I guess this is a separate application but i have never seen it and don't know what to expect, any help is much appreciated! Thanks.
Check page 16
of the reference guide for ITA 6.1. It's pretty detailed in how to create and import a new report.
Edit---
Actually it seems you have read it. Have you launched the website, as it says? http://servername/reportserver

Solved? by serendipity!
While working on this server (NS/Helpdesk, SQL Server 2005 is offbox) I decided to install the SQL Management tools so I can access the database for troubleshooting and maintenance etc. from this machine and not have to rdp to the SQL Server all the time. So I installed the SQL workstation tools on my server from the installation CDs. I say installed it actually failed to install the sql server management studio with an error related to the fact i installed some of the components via other means (an msi from the microsoft website) for IT Analytics and said i would need to uninstall them and rerun the SQL Server Setup. Well I didn't want to do that as I just got everything working (except for the report builder). So i am going to live without SQL Management Studio afterall. Then, prompted by your response, i thought i would try to launch the report builder one last time before giving up (calling support) and magically it launched. So I presume that in all of the preliminary installs of the workstation option in SQL Server setup (and there were a lot) it installed something that NS needed to launch the app from the console.
So if i were doing this again i think i would start by installing the sql server workstation tools as they have most of the other components in there that I listed in the other thread and it has this other something special as well.
Now i need to try to actually create a report (a minor detail at this point) it looks a bit Intimidating.
Jim, thanks for all your help.
