  • 1.  IT Analytics Error on reports after SP1 Upgrade

    Posted Jun 10, 2014 04:57 PM

Everything was working pre sp1 and now for reports I am getting this error when I go through the altiris console or the reporting server website

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Cannot impersonate user for data source 'ITAnalytics'. (rsErrorImpersonatingUser)
Log on failed. Ensure the user name and password are correct. (rsLogonFailed)
For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors

I redid the authentication settings in the ITA configuration with no luck.  Any thoughts before I call support and open a ticket?  Cubes are still processing fine and I can use them.

    Hi SonicGT!

How did you perform upgrade? Database was running on same existing SQL Server?

Do you have same auth error on attempt to open report from "Reporting Services Configuraton Manager"?

    ITA_ReportService.jpg

Also verify what "Database" report credentials in same "Reporting Services Configuraton Manager".

    Note:

I did upgrade from ITMS 7.5 HF6 to ITMS 7.5 SP1 release and don't see such problem. ITA reports are available and show data on SMP Console.

(I'm using onbox SQL Server 2008 R2 with ITMS installed) - (Using "Windows Integrated Authentication" in ITA Configuration page).

    Thanks,

    IP.

Yes I performed the upgrade myself.  Same SQL databases, server, reporting url.  Nothing changed on that part.  The only thing that changed was going from HF6 to SP1

The same error is received when going directly to the reporting url and attempting to run a report there as well.

You need to check what credentials are specified to have an access to reports

(But I don't think that someone has changed credentials to another there in "Report Server Database" before or after upgrade to 7.5 SP1)

    Please check attached screenshot

credentials are accurate, I even just re-entered them to make sure and it said connection successful.

    Same error after re-doing credentials

    Looks veeery strange...

If this is a test environment and you have backup to make possible restore to previous state, then you can try to:

You can check what settings are specified in database for IT Analytics:

    SELECT * FROM Item WHERE Guid= 'ce7c50d0-7f50-413d-bb4a-44e28b60245a'

You can remove current settings from Symantec_CMDB database to make possible to open IT Analytics Settings page in SMP Console and set a new settings and choose your existing ITA database or create a new:

    update Item
    set State = '<item> <RSURL></RSURL> <RSFolder></RSFolder> <RSAuth></RSAuth> <RSBrowserRole>Browser</RSBrowserRole> </item>'
    where Guid = 'ce7c50d0-7f50-413d-bb4a-44e28b60245a'

    Notes:

    1. After this query execution, please perform IIS reset and re-open I.E Browser.

    2. Please save current settings of IT Analytics to make possible to revert them back if required.

    Thanks,

    IP.

Doing the first step of just retyping credentials in the IT Analytics connection on the reporting server reports website itself resolved my issue

Great! You've found how to fix it.

Please close this thread to mark it as not required assistance anymore.

I had this issue and simplying re-entering credentials for me wasn't taking. I had to change the authentication type to Windows Integrated and save it, then change it back and re-enter. It started working after that.
