  • 1.  IT Analytics Reporting in Windows 7

    Posted Mar 28, 2013 05:26 PM

    Hi All,

I just recently handled our organizations SEPM reports with more than 25k clients and want to integrate IT Analytics for reporting. Is it possible to install IT Analytics in Windows 7 or do I need to install this application on a server to make it work? I only need to get the reporting working to fetch the data directly to our SEPM database. Any advice will certainly help.

    Thank You

    Hello,

There is a good amount of content on Connect regarding IT Analyitcs for SEP. I would start with this article:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/installing-and-configuring-it-analytics-71-symantec-endpoint-protection-pack

For more articles specific to IT Analytics for SEP, you can go into the Security community and search for articles and videos under the author 'dprager.'

To answer your question specifically, IT Analytics will need to be hosted by the Symantec Management Platform, which is installed on a separate server. If you have this running in your environment already, you'll simply need to install the SEP content pack.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you for the information. We are planning to install IT Analytics reporting in VM win 2008 server. Does IT Analytics on a VM environment will worked with more than 25k workstations? Below is the system hardware that we proposed since this will only be used for reporting and sharepoint integration.

    Dual Core 2.4 GHz CPU
    4 GB RAM
15 GB of free disk space.

If you have any recommendation I'll be more than happy to hear your thoughts.

    Hello,

For environment sizing, you'll want to review the document we have specific to IT Analytics for SEP:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/sizing-and-scalability-recommendations-it-analytics-symantec-endpoint-protection-pack-1212

Given that you have over 25K endpoints, that will generate a fair amount of data and you'll want to make sure you give sufficient resources to the IT Analytics implementation in order to process that data efficiently.  Check out the Hardware Requirement section of that document and feel free to contact me directly if you have any additional questions.
