Is it possible to add HP Rapid Deployment Pack to an existing 6.9 DS server?
Updated: 22 May 2010 | 3 comments
We are using DS 6.9 for workstations and are beginning to purchase HP servers with Rapid Deployment Pack licenses. Do I have to use RDP separately from our existing DS installation? I couldn't find any type of "add-in" for importing all the preconfigured HP scripts RDP seems to offer.
If there is no add in, would it be possible to install the latest version of RDP on our DS server and expect it to behave as and "upgrade" from one DS version to another? Would I then be able to use my standard DS licenses on this new RDP DS server?

I've managed to get it working with some "tweaking" of the rdp installer. I don't know if it's supported however. Just make sure that you use HP RDP v3.80 which is the DS 6.9 version of the RDP.

Hi,
Could you expand a bit more on what you mean by 'tweaking'.? Also, My understanding is that it is required that at least 1 RDP license in required for the DS6.9 native server to allow the use of the RDP scripts \ tools.
Any help appreciated
Regards
When you kick-off the installer from rdp it wants you to install the waik toolkit. When you cancel it, it will fail and drop back to the selection screen. You can then select what you really want (the rdp jobs only). I don't think it is supported to do it like this but it will work.
