Is it recommended to to remove the default website from IIS before doing the installation of SEPM.
Also we will be selecting the custom port option during the installation.
Pls suggest.

Its not required to delete the existing IIS settings
Hi SAM,
Its not required to delete the existing IIS settings, coz when you will install SEPM it will give you the option os Default Website and Custom too.
Select the custom one and gave a port no which is not in use

Hi Sam, The main mive of
Hi Sam,
The main mive of installing the SEPM on custom website is to avoid port conflics on your web server. If you already have another website running on default website, then you should definitely go for Custom Website.
But, as you talked about deleting the default website, here is abviously nothing installed on it. No need to delete the default website.

Hi Aniket,
We will be using the port 80 but not from the default IIS.
Hence i was thinking to delete the default IIS from inetmgr and then proceed with the SEPM installtion with custom port and select 80 over there.
Can I go in this manner?

Hi Sam, Stop the default
Hi Sam,
Stop the default website. The install SEPM on custom website. Change the port of the website in the properties.
Then add a line scm.iis.http.port=80 in conf.properties file in location C:\program files\symantec\symantec endpoint protection manager\tomcat\etc
Restart SEPM services.
Cheers,
Aniket

Stop or change the default port
Change the port of Default website or stop the default website. So that it can be reusable for future use.

It's best practice to remove
It's best practice to remove or disable the "default" web site for security anyway.
Not necessary for SEM/SEP, but it's advisable in any case.
If it's there and not used, the defaults, esp in days gone by, allowed for some mischief.

Hi, I did remove the default
Hi,
I did remove the default website from IIS and then run the setup.exe for SEP.
It asked me to create a Custom website and i did created the same with port 80.
Finally the installation went through and i am not facing any issue. From the IIS i can see the name as "Symantec Web Server" which as the settings as recommended by symantec.
I would recommend the same to all the members.
