This issue has been solved. See solution.

Is there any plans to Symantec Endpoint Proteciton support Itanium-based Systems in the future?

Maybe MR6 or SEP12 ?

I belive the last client

I belive the last client Symantec had that supported IA64 was SAV 9. I don't suspect IA64 support coming back in symantec products. Thought they do now support EMT64.

The current version of SAV

The current version of SAV supports Itanium.

Symantec AntiVirus for 64-Bit Windows Clients

  • Windows XP 64-Bit Edition Version 2003, Windows Server 2003 Standard/Enterprise/Datacenter 64-Bit Editions; Windows Vista Business/Enterprise/Home Basic/Home Premium/Ultimate; Windows Server 2008 Standard/Enterprise/Datacenter/Web Server
Note: The Server Core installation option for Windows Server 2008 is not supported.
  • 80 MB RAM (512 MB on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008; 1 GB recommended for Windows Server 2008)
  • 70 MB disk space (400 MB on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or later
  • Intel processors that support Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T)
  • AMD 64-bit Opteron and Athlon processors
  • Intel Itanium processor

I am hearing that SEP will not have Itanium support in the future.

But how long will SAV be supported?

For some reason there are no end-of-support-life dates for SAV 10.0 thru 10.2..

How much longer will SAV be supported, given that SEP has been out for well over 2 years now?  Perhaps now is the time for Symantec to update the SAV end-of-support dates.
