  • 1.  ITMS 7.5 agent upgrade

    Hi 

    We have ITMS 7.1 NS installed and 4000 clients manage with NS 7.1

    Now have setup new NS 7.5 on new hardware box, now we want to manage all NS7.1 client to NS  7.5...... How we can upgrade that 7.1 agent and map to NS 7.5

    Although you are probably already aware of this, 7.5 is intended as an in-place upgrade of 7.1.  Aside from the addition of CEM, architecture is about the same so unless your 7.1 enviornment was not properly sized or you have "informational baggage" you don't want to carry forward into 7.5, an upgrade of 7.1 will make things easier on you overall.

    In basic terms, you would use the advanced option of the 7.1 sma settings policy to provide the 7.1 clients with the url of the 7.5 smp, thus allowing them to redirect themselves and then begin the agent and plugin upgrade if the relevant 7.5 policies have been enabled. You of course need a configured and enabled sma settings policy on the 7.5 smp for this to work.

    Hi, CBZ9104:

    Remember that NS 7.5 only accepts communication with legacy agents if you active LAC (Legacy Agent Communication) that you can find under Settings > Notification Server > Notification Server Settings

    At the same time, with 7.5 you need to register the agents on the NS on Settings > Agent/Plug-ins > Symantec Management Agent > Settings > Registration Policies by defining Registration Rules
