Jan 29, 2010 -- SEP SBE 12.0.122.192 -- Win 7 Pro
Soooo confused!
Windows 7 Professional has been out for months.
Bought SEP SBE 12.0.122.192 for 5 unmanaged machines today, January 28, 2010!
Let's look at the results of the FIRST install!
1) Status is green, BUT, I only see Virus and Spyware Protection and Proactive Threat Protection asbing on.
Nothing about Firewall; nothing about ANYTHING else. I seem to remember SEP as having three or four thingies running.
More thingies are good, no?
2) Live Update says I am as updated as can be.
3) Symantec File Connect has version 12.0.1 as available. I am assuming that my installed 12.0.122 is newer than 12.0.1 -- am I incorrect?
4) Windows Action Centre is complaining that Windows Defender and Windows Firewall are turned off or setup incorrectly.
Also that Symantec Endpoint Protection is reporting its status in a format that is no longer supported.
Obviously if Symantec Endpoint is installed fully and correctly, then I would not need windows defender and firewall. Somehow, though, I don't trust that all is well!
Paranoid or once bitten?
And... how the heck do I adjust the symantec firewall if there is no mention of it in the Status screen?
Surely I am not the only person who has these problems --- what is the recommended resolution?
Wtih many thanks!

SEP 12 RU1 -12.0.1001.95.is
SEP 12 RU1 -12.0.1001.95.is fully compatible with WIndows 7
VMWARE-- SEP 12.1 vs McAfee vs Trend Micro
And where do we find this SEP
And where do we find this SEP 12 RU1 - 12.0.1001.95 which people keep mentioning?
https://fileconnect.symantec.com/ where one normally gets symantec upgrades using one's serial number is only showing version 12.0.1 as available
As it turns out, for anyone else having the same problem, version 12.0.1 available at fileconnect and dated November 2009 actually *is* the version 12.0.1001.95 that Vikram mentions above. I randomly tried it in desperation last night and it does work fine with WIndows 7.
Not Vikram's problem (and btw THANK YOU Vikram for answering so quickly), but whatever bright light at Symantec had the great idea of assuming that people will think version 12.0.1 comes after (as opposed to before) 12.0.122 owes me 4 hours of my life and might want to invest in the extra pixels it takes to show the world that 12.0.1 is actually 12.0.1001.95....
And they might also clarify
And they might also clarify on the product and on the Web site that v. 12 Release Update 1 (RU1) is the same as 12.0.1001.95 (or whatever). I ran the Endpoint Protection Support Tool, which tells me that 12.0.122.192 is the latest version. Clearly, there is a lot of confusion over what is "up to date" in Symantec's world. Why doesn't LiveUpdate provide an option to get the latest release?

Support Tool
Hi Des -
Thx for pointing out the issue with the Support tool. It was a miss on our end and we expect to have a release out latest by Monday fixing this issue. Apologies for the confusion.
