  • 1.  Java is installed but not listed under STPatchAssessement.xml

With the latest Java update I have noted on some computers that it is not showing as applicable when it is!  On certain computers I can see in the local cached\STPatchAssessment.xml that Java is listed as a product, listing all previous versions while on another computers there is no mention Java at all and Java is installed?

What is the best method to troubleshoot this?

    Thanks,

    Rick

    Hi Rick D,

There is Oracle bug about broken installation of Java in case if Internet browser and java.exe are running: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7042296 .
Could you please check that java is really installed successfully on affected machine by visiting http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp  ?
Click 'Verify Java Version' in order - if Java is working correctly, then current version of installed Java should be shown.

In case if version is shown correctly, but Java is missing in STPatchAssessment.xml, could you please attach STPatchAssessment.xml and STPatchAssessment.log from affected machine?

    Thanks,
    Roman
