Job failed since upgrade to Backup Exec 12.5
Updated: 23 May 2010 | 5 comments
Since upgraded to Backup Exec 12.5, the Data to tape job fail with this error:
Backup job fails with error "V-79-57344-65218 - A failure occurred accessing the SnapShot handle" and with error "0xe000fec2 - A failure occurred accessing the SnapShot handle"
I checked the job history and found that this error only happened at the "Shadow Copy Component" and "System State", also I read through all the KB related to this error and the AOFO already been DISABLED for all the backup jobs(Actually I have the license for AOFO and do installed them), but these did not solve the problem, is anyone here can help me?

need help......
Having the same problem, one job of about 30...backing up remote win2008 server. recreated the job, disabled aofo, same issue...i am still running version 12 though. regardless, we all need a resolution for this.
This may help, but you should make sure that you have the lastest VSS patch for your system installed on local and remote systems:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ae17b7ef-3c02-496a-bb46-770c04e42b5c&DisplayLang=en (server 2003)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5eb76bda-8794-412a-9fd4-1bccbbc34c82&DisplayLang=en (server 2008 x64)
Doesnt seem I able to apply the 2008 x64 edition of that patch. Says it is no applicable to my system...even though I do not see that patch listed under existing windows patches and we are running 2008 64bit fully patched. I cant see this being a problem with the backup server itself since it is able to backup other 2008 machines without issue.
Am I right in thinking that you are able to backup most of the remote servers, but one is failing?
If so, I would try installing the patch on that remote server, and uninstalling the remote agent and AOFO and reinstalling them, and then recreate the job.
Regarding those patches, since they don't get pushed by Microsoft Update, and they cause so many backup problems if they are not installed, I do try to reference them frequently here even if they may of may not fix a particular problem. They may fix other future problems before they happen.
