Hey everyone,

We have several jobs with some tasks as "modify configuration". Question is how do I set the one user account / permission for that task / job rather using the Altiris console permissions.

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you saying you want to limit permissions on just that one task in the job?

If I had a job / task that modify the computer to join the domain into the right OU then I wish to use a specific account to do this. Our IT technicians are authenticated to use DS console via active directory account with limited permissions so if that technician schedule a job to modify the computer the job runs under there limited account. How do I get around this?

The job will run as whatever account you have setup in DS options for Domain Accounts. It would not run as the user logged into the console.
