Job status of running backup jobs is active but no progress information is shown

The backup jobs were scheduled to start in Backup Exec 2012. The job status was changed from scheduled to active. But no progress information is shown.

Is backup job really running? Is it bug?

In Preferences is 'Display progress indicators for backup jobs' selected?  See http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO73462

Not selected 'Display progress indicators for backup jobs'. This is default setting in BE 2012.

 

I can see progress informtion without selecting this option before. Why?

 

The issue is that the status of running job often show "active" only.

Ok, I see you are running CASO. This may have to do with settings that the managed Backup Exec server communicates with the central administration server. Look at  http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO73647

The running job with active status only was ran on local CAS server, not on managed Backup Exec server.

Also, the running job started over several hours, but the status still show active.

I have several BE 2012 servers often have this issue randomly.

 

Normally,when the status of backup job is active, the backup cannot be modified until the backup jobs complete. But I can edit the backup job when the status of backup job is active. So stange!

 

Another issue of backup job  is that backup job (backup VM to deduplication storage)  is scheduled to run. Then the status of backup job is  changed to queued. But nothing can be backup after many hours.

 

I opened Symantec support case still cannot solve this case for several weeks. The two issues above are annoying me. Deduplication technolgy seem to work not well on BE2012. Will BE 2012 SP2 can solve these issues?
