Hi

In SMP 7.1 when you click on Manage Computer and select a specific Computer you were able to see which Jobs/Tasks runs on a specific Client with the Job/Task name (see Screenshot)

In SMP 7.5 when you click on Manage Computer and select a specific Computer you are no longer able to see which Jobs/Tasks runs on a specific Client with the Job/Task name (see Screenshot). You can only see the Job/Task with a Description of "Quick run on ...."

How can we change it back to display the name of a Job or a Task instead of "Quick run on..."?

This is strange, I'd like to know as well or if it will be fixed with hotfix, etc.

Hi all!

As workaround you can use these steps to see correct name of executed via "Quick run" button task, job on client

1. Mouse right click menu on computer name -> click "Resource Manager"

1.JPG

2. On "Resource Manager" page -> click on "Home" -> "Job and Tasks Status"

2.JPG

3. Now you can see correct name of executed tasks on your client computer.

 Thanks,

Hi Igor,

This workaround is not acceptable. I know how to find Jobs/Tasks that are running on a Client but that was not the question! However i want to know what´s the reason why Symantec changed this in 7.5 and the benefit for the customers letting them know that a Job with a useless Description (Quick run on..) runs on a Client.

Is this going to be changed back to the old naming scheme?

Hi Network23,

As far as I know this is a known issue in 7.5 release and incident for this problem already exists and we've added a link of this post there. Hope Task Management team will review it and make decision.

Unfortunately I don't have information about in which release or HF this issue fix will be included.

Thanks,

IP.

LOL. Who knows what we'll call it. I can definitively say what is "next" is a hotfix though.

Hi Network23,

I see that this problem isn't fixed in 7.5 HF1

Hi Igor,

Still not resolved with 7.5 HF2. Is there any date when Symantec will fix this issue?

Thanks

I believe that either the spAC_SelectResourceTaskInstanceData or the spAC_SelectResourceTaskInstanceDataEx stored procedure is used to display this information.

Here are the executable syntaxes and their output columns for the 7.1.2 MP1.1 v7RU SP's:

DECLARE    @return_value int
EXEC    @return_value = [dbo].[spAC_SelectResourceTaskInstanceData]
        @ResourceGuids = N'resourceguid'
SELECT    'Return Value' = @return_value

TaskInstanceGuid    TaskVersionGuid    InstanceType    InstanceName    ParentTaskInstanceGuid    JobNodeGuid    CreateTime    ResourceGuid    ExecutedBy    StartTime    EndTime    InstanceStatus    Result    Success    TaskServerGuid    NotStarted    Started    CompletedSuccess    CompletedFail    StopRequested    LastEventTime    LastEventType    GuidType    SourceNS    SourceNSWeb    ComputerName    ParentExecutedBy

Return Value

DECLARE    @return_value int
EXEC    @return_value = [dbo].[spAC_SelectResourceTaskInstanceDataEx]
        @ResourceGuids = N'resourceguid'
SELECT    'Return Value' = @return_value

TaskInstanceGuid    TaskVersionGuid    InstanceStatus    StartTime    ParentTaskInstanceGuid

Return Value

I don't have a 7.5 system so cannot compare these results myself; however, it would be interesting to see if they are different or not.  Comparing the actual SQL behind each of the SP versions would be good too.

@Network23, I don't have such information when this issue will be fixed.

@SK, you're right. Issue is in Activity Center but probably part of problem exists in TS as well.

Hi Igor,

Hi SK,

It seems that this issue is fixed with 7.5 SP1. Now it displays the Name of the Job/Task instead of "Quick run on".

Thanks

Hi Network23,

I see that it works correctly after upgrade from ITMS 7.5 HF6 to ITMS 7.5 SP1 release, as well.

According to information, this bug was fixed for 7.5 SP1 build.

Thanks,

IP.
