Journal Mailbox Migration

I have seen this article but I'm trying to understand if I can do this differently then this article.

We currently use journal archive only.  Running verion 10.0.4.x.  Exchange is 2013 and 2007.  Our journal mailbox is the only mailbox on 2007.

I want to know if a migration in this fashion will work.

1.)  Stop the journal archiving running against 2007 Exchange.

2.) Migrate the journal mailbox to 2013 Exchange.

3.) Create a new target in EV to the new 2013 exchange server

4.) Delete the old journal archiving task and create a new one for the 2013 target and the same mailbox that was migrated.

5.) Remove the 2007 target and start the journaling task for the new 2013 server

Will this work?  I'm trying to understand why they article has you build a new account and journal mailbox

Either way will work I think.

I think the article gets you to do that because it's quick?

either way should work, like rob said. creating a new mailbox would also require you to reconfigure journaling in exchange to use the new mailbox which seems like more work too.
