  • 1.  JRE version restrictions for remote console (SEPM) - not FIXED

    Posted May 26, 2009 10:40 PM
    All,

We are still restricted to using JRE v1.6u7 or lower when running the console on a remote computer. Could we get a Symantec employee to chime in here and let us know when this will be fixed? MR4MP3? MR5? The production version of 1.6 is now 1.6u13, and update 7 has too many well-known security holes for me to be comfortable running it unless I dedicate a VM to just this console.

Also, if it is Paul Murgatroyd who sees this - Paul, could you check the fix-list and see whether we will get SQL2008 compatiblity before the next full-number upgrade (ie, SEP12)? We are entering the wide-scale testing phase up our conversion to SQL2008 (the dev crew wants the new bells and whistles, natch) and I don't want to hold up the process once we get rolling.

    Thanks,

    Loel

It would be SUPER AWESOME if we could use current Java with SEPM remote console.  This is a major, major, major pain.

I agree, it's actually kind of ironic that I have to run an insecure version of JAVA to run my Security software.

I'm pretty sure we all feel this way.  It is a pain, and presents a security risk.
