    Hi,

We are having 12.1 RU1 MP1 in ouir management servers and 12.1 version in our clients. Today suddenly many clients in our network are facing high CPU utiklzation due to kvoop.exe anf smc.exe.

Can someone tell me how to resolve this isue.

It is a process that is part of SMS SMTP 5 and it performs out-of-process (that's what oop in kvoop stands for) True Type file identification and filtering.

That is fine, thanks. But why is it taking so much of CPU utilization and is it anywhere related to Symantec AV or Lotus notes??

    Hello,

It is recommeded to have certain Exclsuions created when SEP and DLP are installed on the same machine.

I would request you to contact the DLP (Vontu) Technical Support for the same.

    Also, check this Article: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/exclude-sep-agent-dlp-endpoint-agent-configuration

The Kvoop.exe is the one that scans the computer when you are running Endpoint Discovery to find confidential information stored on the Endpoint system. It is a process that is part of SMS SMTP 5 and it performs out-of-process (that's what oop in kvoop stands for) True Type file identification and filtering.

    Hope that helps!!

Kvoop.exe is not so troublesome, but smc.exe is taking high CPU utilization on many clients' machines and it takes upto 98% CPU which make systems hung!! We have already upgraded our management servers and some clients to the latest version, but got no resolution.

smc goes high when the system is restarted and makes the system workable after 30-45 minutes, and then it comes 2-3 times on the machine making the machine unuseable!.

any suggestions how to make SEP work fine without taking much of CPU??
