  • 1.  Laptop Disconnecting from Aruba devices

    Posted Sep 16, 2013 07:10 PM

We have had one laptop disconnect itself from our Aruba wireless devices after SEP 12 (version 12.1.3 was installed).   We found the following items related to version 11.5.  Are these also known issues in 12.1.3 or have they been fixed?  We have other laptops with the same configuration that have not had this issue.

    Thank you

    The items.

Wireless client deauthenticates on Aruba switch after 30 minutes

If you or your administrator configure a client as a built-in supplicant for 802.1x authentication with an Aruba switch and WPA2 (Wi-Fi Protected Access) and AES encryption, the client deauthenticates the user after 30 minutes. The client is disconnected from the network. The user must restart the client machine to be authenticated again.

Client cannot download a roaming profile when it uses 802.1x authentication

In clients with on operating system older than Microsoft Vista, the client cannot download a roaming profile when it uses 802.1x authentication. This issue can be resolved by upgrading to Vista or later. For details, see this Microsoft article:

Opening a support case is the recommended course of action here, especially since it is happening with the latest version. They will be able to take a deep dive into this.

    A couple of things:

Sounds like this only affects XP?

Do you have the firewall enabled? If so, does it work as expected with it disabled? Does anything show up in the Traffic log at the time this occurs?

    Hello,

Could you try upgrading the ArubaPass Policy Manager to version 6.0.2.46902 and upgrading the Aruba ClearPass QuickConnect client to version 0.0.0.0.10000.

After these upgrades are made, the Windows wireless network profile could be configured even when SEP 12.1 RU3 is installed.

    Hope that helps!!

_Brian.  this computer in question is a Windows 7 computer.  I'm going to check on Mithum's suggestion.  If this is already in place I'll open a case.

We do have other people on the same model laptop with the same wireless card that are not having a problem, so I am hoping this is an issue with this one computer.  We did have an issue withthe install on this laptop so I am hoping that is the cause.
