Laptop Power Saving Setting

Recently I have found a few of our laptops that were missing our overnight patch to have some Power Saving settings on that obviously would kill the patches from installing (such as Hard Disks turning off after 15 minutes of idle time).  My question is, can these laptops receive updates when they are on "system standby" or "hibernation"?  I figured hibernation it would not work, but maybe it would work for the system being in stanby.

When WOL is configured

When WOL (Wake on lan) is configured it should work.
WOL is able to set a portable on when the portable is off, idle or in Hibernation.
The only thing that you need is teh portable on the network and WOL is enabled in the BIOS.

WOL works with the magic packet that starts the device by using the MAC adress.

I think the only way this

I think the only way this will work is if the device is wired or docked.  Wireless connections won't recieve the packet.

WOL is less than reliable it

WOL is less than reliable it seems. That is why patching during the day may make sense while deferring the reboot until later.
