Hi,

We have multiple sites (about 30+ sites worldwide) and servers in each site require to deploy one-week old virus definition according company policy. Thus in this case, we need to deploy LUA in each site. However, we found that everyday each LUA download 7GB! virus definition, it uses up all our local office bandwidth. We have limited bandwidth to internet and all location is separated, thus using a centralize web proxy is not an option here.

We want to know why the Symantec definition files are so huge? 

Do we have any other option in architecture to reduce the download virus definition size?

Does all sep client direct connected to LUA ?

or LUA update on SEPM and sepm will distributes SEP client.If yes you can use GUP each site.

All client connects to LUA. 

GUP needs a lot admin work - manually select def revision every time we do update (server requires one week old def), this manual works need to do every week on 30+ sites. 

Lua would download all the products which are selected in product list catlog,

if you are not using NTP and PTP in your network you need to deselect those and download only what is required. check if that reduces the space.

LUA download the full set of definitions and day by day defination size will increased.

If the LUA doesn't server MAC computers, you can exclude the definition for MAC computers (.osx and .osi files). This will save a lot of data.
