where in mail security can i check if the latest spam rules definitions have been downloaded? (not virus definitions) Is there a version number for the spam defs?
From the dashboard of the Control Center, click the link that says 'Details' beside 'Hardware status'. Click the 'Software and Services' tab. Under Scanner, click the link for your Scanner. Under Scanner, expand the '+' sign beside the Conduit. On this screen you should get an idea of the different spam rulesets and when they were last updated.

i am not using Brightmail Gateway Appliance, the product is Mail security for exchange, so not seeing those settings u mentioned..
