Launch/Upgrade of SIM on 6.x server hosed helpdesk

In a desperate search for some decent licensing information, I launched SIM on our 6.x helpdesk/deployment solution server and it prompted to upgrade itself, whcih I allowed.  Big mistake, now our helpdesk 6.0 sp5 enivronment is broken.  I'm not sure why SIM was on the server and why it would interfere with 6.x stuff, but it did.  Now when we try to open incidents, we see the error "the command that you attempted to run is inactive."

SIM did install windows installer 4.5.  I don't see why that would affect anything, but it is worth mentioning as it was a change on the system.

 

Anyone have any ideas or seen this before?  Help!  We can't support our users!  I have opened a case and am waiting for a call but I often find that the collective knowledge far surpasses support.

I think you have to go into IIS settings and change ASP back to .NET 1.1...

Actually it looks like what happened was that somehow permissions got stripped off of all of the folders for the altiris installation.  Some combination of restoring the altiris folders/acl's and forcing through some permission inheritance seems to have done the trick.  Fingers crossed...
