This issue has been solved. See solution.

We're using the Learned Application feature in MP4MR2, which is a really cool feature that gives us a list of all applications run in the corporation.

But we have one application that is run from a DFS namespace and it shows up as a new application every time it's run. We get hundreds of emails about this application being learned.

/Device/WinDfs/Y:00000000000aca2c/US/ROOT/APPS/FSBA/BIN

/Device/WinDfs/Y:000000000008a707/US/ROOT/APPS/FSBA/BIN

all point to the same .exe name running on Y:\US\ROOT\APPS\FSBA\BIN

So far I've been unable to find an explanation of what the hexadecimal string is after the Y:. If anyone is DFS-savvy and can explain it, it would be appreciated. SEP is deciding this is a new application because it's running from a "new" path.

And if anyone can explain how to keep files run from a DFS namespace from getting flagged as a new application, that would be REALLY appreciated. :-)

Thanks,

Ray

If these snippets are from different machines, then I think they must be the IDs for the computers from which they are taken.
