Length of backup quadrupled!

Created: 28 Apr 2005 • Updated: 21 May 2010 | 4 comments

Has anyone experienced the same problem? The duration of backup has increased from 2+ hours to 8+ hours.

Any input you can provide is much appreciated!

Thanks!!

Hi,

I would like to know a bit about the environment that you are working in.

Is Backup Exec 9.1 installed on Windows 2000 or a 2003 server ?

What kind of data are you backing up?
Any databases ?
Are these remote or local backups?

Also, the device used for backup.
An autoloader, a standalone drive, a library, a B2D ?

Since when are you experiencing this problem? Have there been any recent changes on the server?

Please let us know the above for further troubleshoooting.

Thanks.

Thanks for replying.

Backup Exec 9.1 is running under Windows 2000 SBS.
We're backing up the entire system every night.
Yes, there are databases that we've been backing up in the past.
Local backup.
Quantum SDLT 320 - standalone drive
Problem started on 4/12.
We put in a new hard drive since one of our hard drives failed resulting a full blown server crash.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!!
