Library Expansion Option

Hi All,

   We have a Media Server that is connected to a HP MSL library that has 2 Tape drives in it. I know that Bacup Exec 2010 comes with 1 free LEO licenses and we have purchased an additional LEO license for Backup Exec. My problem is that since there is no key for LEO licenses in BE2010, how the heck do I get that license into BE? I keep reading about installing the Licence but where do I get the license files? It was so much easier when all I had to do is input licenses keys for the options I bought. Any help would greatly be appreciated

Didn't you recieve 16 digit license key for LEO?

According to the Licensing Portal, there is no license key for the LEO license in BE2010. There was one in BE 12 but not in 2010. You can understand my frustration with this...

Er, I think you're completely wrong. You need a key. We have an MSL6030 at our Head Office, with 1 license key that I entered in during the installation. On paper that 1 license key licenses the 3 extra drives we have.

So follow up with Symantec Licensing, and tell them to provide that additional key, otherwise your extra drive won't work.

Contact your reseller to make sure the right company was entered (assuming you have a customer ID #)

They would have passed that on to the ordering system to distribution which in turn gets sent to Symantec electronically.  The licenses would have posted into the licensing portal if done right.

If not, then go to licensing.symantec.com and have them straighten it out.  There is a contact link in which you can call or email them.  For the time being, you can run in trial mode for 60 days.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."

Thanks all for the tip. That was my next avenue. I thought it was kind of weird that there was no key for this license. I will contact them directly and get it straightened out. Thanks again to you both
