Library Insert and AV Exclusions

Created: 17 Nov 2013 | 2 comments

Hi!

Backup Exec Server suddenly started giving error "Library Insert" while duplicating backup to tapes. The tapes are appendable till one month from allocation date.

Secondly, what kind of Antivirus Exclusions are needed for Backup Exec Server and the servers having the remote agent?

Thanks.

Hi,

1. Make sure the tapes have enough space available. Even if they are set correctly to append, you may be hitting the physical limits on the tape requiring more to be available.
2. Check the services.msc console. All the BE services listed there shoild be excluded on the AV.
3. Beremote.exe must be excluded on the remote server.

Thanks!

Also exclude from AV (if you have one) the Deduplication Storage Folder - failure to exclude this from AV activity can corrupt the Deduplication folder content (worst case scanario) or cause performance issues.

If is probably good practice to also exclude any B2D/Disk Storage location form AV scanning as well.
