  • 1.  The license count for CMDB Solution has been exceeded

When trying to edit items in CMDB, such as creating a new location or department, CMDB throws an error message about all licenses being in use.  Each window that opens appears to be treated as a concurrent user, rapidly exhausting licenses.

See this link for a locked thread describing the exact issue:

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/license-exceeded-when-editing-resource

I have a single user license and to create a new department I right click on "department" and select "create department".  This launches a new window.  The only way I can create the department is to stare at the open window for five minutes until the license from the parent window is freed.  Then I can work in that window to create a department.  Same for locations and other CMDB resources.

    Anyone have a better solution?

How did this type of thing ever make it through user acceptance testing?

This is a known issue, and Symantec is currently working on fixing it.

Hi if you are using 7.1 please find the workaround

However, the replies at the https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/cmdb-solution-exceeded thread show that this workaround does not always work.
