License of Endpoint backup without renewal?

Hi

I have bought ENDPOINT SECURITY SMALL BUSINESS 4.0 a year ago. It is a suite containing antivirus and client backup solution.

If i do NOT renew my license, is this only relevant for the antivirus definitions, and will i be able to use the client backup solution in the future, without a new license? Or do i need to renew the whole license to be able to use the backup solution contained in this suite.

I want to use the backup from this suite and another antivirus solution.

Hello,

I would recommend you to update your License.

A license if purchased 1 year back, it would enable you to download the older version and not update the software to the Latest available Symantec Softwares i.e; SEP SBE 12.1 or Latest Backup softwares available.

(We don't even know it's validity!!)

Secondly, you would also require the support on those older / latest products as well.

i do not need any updates or support. My only question is: Will the backup solution contained in the SMALL BUSINESS suite still run without the antivirus or antivirus license renewal?

I am from Germany, and i am still waiting for the "callback" offered on the support site. So i figured, i will try to ask here beforehand.

Hi,

In SBE if the license is expired then you won't receive any updates from the Symantec.

You should contact your business partner or sales representative to know whether backup will work or not.

Probably you are not aware of new SEP 12.1 features, you should look at it once prior to go with another antivirus.

Backup Software and Antivirus Software are different products.

When you are purchasing a Symantec Protection Suite Small Business Edition 4.0, you receive 3 products with different License keys for each -

  • Symantec™ Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.1
  • Symantec™ Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange 6.5
  • Symantec™ System Recovery 2011 (Desktop Edition only)

In your case, you have purchase the product only a year ago and with this I believe all the products should work.
