  • 1.  License issue for SEP on Windows Servers

    Hi,

I'm recently confused of the SEP license issue. Is there anybody can help me please?

There's 2 type of license our vendor tell me.

①SYMC ENDPOINT PROTECTION 12.1 PER USER
②SYMC ENDPOINT PROTECTION FOR NETWORK SERVERS 12.1 PER SERVER

For '①' , I can free understand that we should purchase this licenese by Seats( Client PC numbers).
But for '②', I have no idea what it is. Acutally , if we input the license to SEPM, there's totally no difference in SEPM.
All the difference is just license name and price.

Our Vendor told us that if we want to install the SEP client software on Windows server(Depend on OS), we have to purchase '②'.
    Is that true?

I tried to find some document or agreement that clearly claim what kind of license should we use in differnent situation, but got nothing.

It will be very thankful if anybody can help me.

BTW, I'm in China. I've asked Symantec China and they cannot explain clearly.

SEP licensing is for Windows client whether workstations or servers. I don't see a difference in the two.

Thank you for posting in Symantec community.

I would be glad to answer your query.

Q,Our Vendor told us that if we want to install the SEP client software on Windows server(Depend on OS), we have to purchase '②'.
    Is that true?

    --> It's not ture.

A Symantec Endpoint Protection license applies to the Symantec Endpoint Protection clients. For instance, in a network with 50 endpoints (Server OS, Client OS), the license must provide for a minimum of 50 seats. Instances of the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager do not require a license.

Yes, it's confusing me as well.

When you import .slf file into the SEPM how many total seats are there?
