License necessary??

Created: 24 Jun 2012 | 3 comments

Hello

I ordered the Upgrade from Backup Exec 2010 to 2012. After I did the upgrade the application did not start up. The reason was, that the not working SP1 was installed at the same time. It was very frustrating, that no solution was available to get around the problem and until when a solution is provided. As soon as the SP1a was available I did the installation 13.6.2012. I installed as well the License that I ordered from my distributor.

What additional License are necessary to make sure that the application works also in the future, after the test period is over. Please let me know why the ordered Licenses are not sufficient.

In the attachment you find what I got delivered as well as the License assessment report from BA 2012.

Thanks for any suggestion

Regards Rolf Soland

At the least, you will need the core product license installed. And one Agent for Windows license for each additional Windows server that you wish to protect other than the server where Backup Exec is installed.

Of course there are agents for Mac and Linux, and agents for technologies such as Exchange, SQL Server, VMWare, etc. This you should discuss with your reseller, or call Customer Care at

800-327-2232

And ask them to send you the product license numbers by e-mail.

The customer received from Symantec the attached E-Mail that the Version upgrade is free of charge if there is a valid support contract.

The support has been renewed as you can see in the License assessment, but the License for the product has not been upgrades to the new version 2012.

Can you please check this for me why the License has not been migrated? Is this eventually also a problem of the migration tool?

Many thanks and regards

Hi Maloni,

Do not post serail number / license key details in public forums. Not a best practise.

From the thing i understand, you have got the serail numbers from symantec. You have to download the license files from licensing.symantec.com using the serial numbers received. After registering the serial numbers, you can download the license file (.slf).

Thanks....
