So we had an older version DS server which crashed, hard. The OS got reinstalled. The DS got reinstalled with a newer version. And the licenses doesn't work anymore. Is there a way to convert older DS version license to work on the newer version?

Only if your AUP is current. If you don't have an AUP, you will need to install the correct version for your licensing or purchase an upgrade.

I just learned that the older version of the DS had a site license. Do I need to install the older version of the DS to use the site license? or is there a better solution?

AUP = Software maintenance or "Altiris Upgrade Protection". If you do not have a contract with Altiris, you will not be able to use the new software without purchasing an upgrade or you will have to install the version that you do have licensing for.

You might want to contact Symantec Licensing Department to check if you are eligible for upgrade or to get the version of the software where your licenses are compatible with.

Symantec Enterprise Licensing Department can be contacted at (800) 721 3934 options 2.

    Hope this helps.
