I have a question related to License:

How it works the End Point Protection Small Business on Virtual Machines?

    I mean:

I have my network as follows:

    1. (1) Server Win2008 R2
    2. (4) Virtual Servers Win2008 R2 (running under the Physical Server).
    3. (5) Desktops.

    My question is:

How many licenses am I consuming legally?

    • 10 include all virtual and physical machines.
    • 6   just the physical machines.

If the answer is 6 (six): Why in the Management Console there are being indicating 10 licences?.

How can I indicate to SEP Small Business that Virtual Machines should not be counted.

This is how you need to calculate; so the Answer is 10; and management console is reporting it right.

1.) Count the total number of each standard (i.e., non-virtualized) endpoint, regardless of endpoint type (e.g., server, laptop, workstation, etc.) to be protected by Symantec Endpoint Protection.
2.) For virtualized environments, (e.g., VMware or Terminal Services), count the total number of separately installed and concurrently running instance of the software to be protected by Symantec Endpoint Protection.
3.) Add together the quantities obtained in steps #1 and #2. This is the total number of units required by your customer. Each desktop, laptop, and server counts equally as one licensable unit.
