Licensed Backup Exec 2012 displaying Evaluation license
Hello Support,
I have a customer who just licensed an evaluation of Backup Exec 2012. The license information displays both the evaluation and full licenses.
I need to find out where to get the evaluation license deleted from the directory.
I am testing with an NFR licensed BE 2012. The Besernum.xml I removed on a licensed BE 2012 still indicates that the product is licensed. I restart and the Backup Exec Directory has only the slf file which was not displaying before.
I can't find the besernum.xml file any longer.
Is the besernum.xml file for the evaluation? Remember this is an NFR license used for testing.
What do I do in the customer's case where the evaluation license is still displaying as shown below?
It is urgent I attend to this customer. I don't want to go there and not be sure of what I am doing.
Please help.
Image above is the evaluation license display and the license information for one year.

besernum.xml does not hold the license info in BE 2012 & .slf files are the actual licenses here...Do ensure the product activation licenses are installed and not the maintenance ones...
Have a look at this KB too - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...
Hi Vjware,
I noticed that the core BE 2012 license had not been used by the customer.
He formerly had a BE 2010 running.
I believe an upgrade mail with the BE2012 license should have been sent to the customer before he installed.
Thank you for your response.
Check the TN below and see if it is relevant in your case...

Hi CraigV,
Thank you for your mail.
Vjware's response already highlighted what I was looking for.
The SLF files that you have entered are for Maintenance contract and not the actual license files of Backup Exec 2012 product. Please read the following technote again as this is mentioned in this technote
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH183970 : Symantec Backup Exec 2012 is shown as being in Trial version even after installing the serial numbers.
During the install of Backup Exec 2012, "Maintenance" serial numbers are entered, but the the actual “Product” serial numbers were not entered.
You need to speak to Symantec Customer Care and get the “Product” serial numbers.
If this response answers your concern, please mark it as a "solution"
