This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hello,

couple of weeks ago I started recieving this error during my media server backup:

V-79-57344-65084 - Before you can back up this resource (<media server>\BKUPEXEC), you must purchase and install a license key for the appropriate Backup Exec agent.

As I understand I do not need RAWS for my media server, also no SQL agent.

The backup is successful when I only select the drives and system state of the server, but fails on database backup.

I can see all my licenses in the GUI, also tried reinstalling them, creating a new backup list and jobs just for the database...nothing seems to work.

Environment:

Win 2008 x64

BE 2010 R3 v 13.0 5204

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Jana

media server>\BKUPEXEC

the backup job is trying to backup the SQL instance (BKUPEXEC) as well and this requires a SQL agent license.

Best to deselect this SQL selection from the backup job properties as Backup Exec automatically backups its own SQL database every morning part of database maintenance and this database backup is present at \Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Data folder. So during the media server backup, this is backed up as well.

I thought that the SQL agent for the media server database was part of the BE media server licence. Obviously it was just working until the trial agent expired.

Tahnk you for your assistance
