    Good Morning,

Due to some company issues, it doesn't appear that we will be able to get a new product license for our Symantec Brightmail Gateway product before it expires.  My question is, what will happen to my system?  I'm betting that I won't get Virus/Spam updates, but will it still process e-mails based on the rules and dats on my system?  Also, will Spam Quarantine still work?

    Thanks!!!

After a grace period, the product will pass mail through without any scanning.  I encourage you to work with the Symantec Customer Care team to get a temporary license extension if needed.

Please don't post shortend URL for Symantec resources.

@ Cricket, I am doing this for tracking our page hits to Symantec KB's and Support/Sales resources.

Tracking is good, but use redirection via Symantec managed properties.  Per Message Labs and the Symantec Trends reports, spammers are using shortening services they control.  You shouldn't be teaching your customers to follow links that are not clearly Symantec resources, or do not clearly indicated the resource being referenced.   Shortening might be handy on Twitter & IM/SMS, but isn't needed here.

Hi Cricket, I understand your concerns, and agree with what you are saying. I always look at the source first before clicking a shortened URL. In this case, I have a TSE badge, so you know the links are legit.

With bit.ly shortened URL's, you can look at the long link information by placing a "+" after the URL.

    Example - http://bit.ly/jhC6Vy+

Firefox users can download a browser Add-on that allows BIt.ly links to show the true URL. before clicking.

    Best,
