    Symantec sells SEP  as no of client license .like we have 1000 license means we can install sep on 1000 clients for 3 years. But why there is no way to monitor these lecensing in SEPM Console. And if we will use 2000 clients in place of 1000 for more than 3 years then symantec will not know about it so why we will purchase another 1000 additional license.

    I have seen some of the antivirus which are much better in license management.
    For me I need this thing to have  controll over my sep installation.

    Symantec Endpoint  Protection is an enterprise level product. We trust our customers for the license utilization.

    And if a network audit happens [which is mandatory for most of the enterprises] the misuse will be detected immediately.

    Yes I think Aniket is correct.
    Thats why for Small bussiness users symantec has released SEP 12 & that has licensing with it again.
    But for enterprise users symantec has a relation of trust.

    Think Positive an think Big
     Why do you  think negative.Look at the positives from licensing..No license management...This is not only from SEP but even SAV entrprise does not  have licensing which was the most successfull antivirus in the History Antivirus Industry...
    Its just that SEP came up with no licensing for SMB customers at the start and now even that has been changed to SEP 12.

    Working on Small Business and Enterprise environment is very diffrent. You cannot keep adding removing updating..troubleshooting licenses in Enterprise env...you will have too many other things to worry about...

    @Bijay

    2 simple answers and I can state this as a matter of factly, having talked about this at length wth some very senior ppl in Symantec who are concerned with SEP and Licensing.

    1. Looking at the Licensing systems for SAV 10.x, which needed the license file for even huge corporate setups and with increasing complaints from admins for SAV that it becomes difficult to track / maintain licenses in an infra that has several thousand computers changing day in and out, it was decided that Symantec do away with the licensing mechanism for SEP. It's a paper licensing based format, which is better to maintain, and can be rectified with some simple steps in case the admins find that they are exceeding the number of licenses. Something akin to Microsoft's VLK's.

    2. The licensing Infrastructure and complexity of the systems required to do the same for SEP 11.x, is too great w.r.t. maintainance and more. hence the need to perform licensing only for SEP SBE.
