  • 1.  Licensing - why is the process so difficult!

    Renewed licenses for CMS. Dont know why but we got the 800 licenses in batches of 200s, 100s etc. I goto the portal to register and see I have to enter about 40 odd serial numbers. I remember from last time that I need to consolidate them overwise they just overwrite each other. I look up the KB article about consolidate and follow the steps, yep - the web site has changed and the steps are wrong! seriously, This is ridiculous.The company paid a lot of money to renew this stuff, at least they can make this process easier. I mind it was exact same when we bought the SW 4+ years ago! pffft.

    Escalate to your Sales rep and have them task the License Department to create your consolidated licenses due to the problem you have mentioned.

    I logged a support call for this. At first I was told license files cannot be consolidated. (must have been the guys first day on the job) - After asking him to check again he got back to me with a zipped file. This contained  the incorrect number of licenses for only 1 year.! After getting back to them - I got the corerct amount of licenses consolidated, but for 1 year only, not 3 years. I was told SIM would update the licenses after the 1 year. I'm finding that hard to swallow as it wasn't like that before. Sounds like a call centre agent is wanting rid of me and will say anything! (unless this can be confirmed by anyone here?)

    Thats the first I have heard of thos too.  Contact your sales rep for confirmation.

    Every year I go through licensing hassles. And it seems to be getting worse and worse. I too had to open a support case when the licensing people said my licenses were correct and insisted something was broken on my end. (It wasn't). Eventually the tech I was working with was able to get the licensing case transfered back to the US, and poof!.... the problem was fixed.

    And so it goes on. Apparently You have to go onto the portal every year and combine the licenses then - that just seems odd to me!
