Limitations for restoring NDMP data

Created: 22 Jan 2013 | 3 comments

Hi Team,

We  are using backup exec 2010 r3 and backup taken through it of EMC box we want to restore to DR site. Where bews version is same but model of EMC box is different and during restoration we received error :

NDMP backup sets can only be redirected to an NDMP server of the same brand. //10.129.200.15:10000//User_Data cannot be redirected to /vol/data.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO12747

Please confirm with me this restoration is possible. Please provide me technote for BEWS 2010 r3 which states about limitations of  NDMP .

Hmm I think you will need to log a formal support case for Symantec to more fully investigate. The only thing I am wondering is are the versions of the operating system on the EMC  devices (DART etc) different.

If you do log a formal support case then please send me the case number via the forum messaging system

What are the OS versions running on the two NDMP boxes ?

I believe the requirements of an NDMP restore are that the device you are restoring to must be running the same OS version the backup is created on.
