Linux PreBoot and fakeraid controllers

naboo's picture

Hello,

i try to put a master image on workstations (NEC WA1320 and Lenovo S20) with rdeploy (via Linux PreBoot providen with DS 6.9 SP3). Both raid controller (Intel ICH9R and AMD SB600) are known as "fakeraid" controllers.

I can't put my master image on a RAID1, on both workstations, the linux preboot don't seem to "see" the raid (nothing is mapped in /dev/mapper...)

Is anyone has ever benn confronted with such issues ? Or do you have any suggestions ? I'm stuck :/

Thanks

Is there a bios setting?

From my recollection of the Lenovo D20, the RAID configuration is held in the BIOS, as well as needing the appropriate driver loaded in WinPE.
Perhaps you need to check if the hardware configuration is correct as well as making sure the drivers are present in your boot environment.

If your issue has been solved, please use the "Mark as Solution" link on the most relevant thread.

Hello EdT, and first, thanks

Hello EdT, and first, thanks for your reply.

I can image my Lenovo S20 (intel matrix storage ICH9R) with winpe without any trouble, but i want to make it with a linux Preboot (the new one based on OpenSuse 11.1 - Kernel 2.6.27). I want to be able tu use LinuxPE because of the availability of a very pleasant tool called ImageInvoker (i found that tool on this forum), and that tool is only available with LinuxPE.

Since the new Linux Preboot is quite recent, i think it may be possible to handle well most common workstations mass storage controller (I hope...).
