Does a list of applications that SEP wil recognise exclusions for out of the box exist or is this documented anywhere? We are trying to put in place exclusions for a customer service but want to know which services are already catered for, i.e. AD, Exchange, etc.

Thsnks,

Tim

Hello,

File and folder exclusions which are Excluded are -

  1. Microsoft Exchange
  2. Microsoft Forefront
  3. Active Directory domain controller
  4. Certain Symantec products
  5. Selected extensions and Microsoft folders
  6. File and folder exceptions
  7. Trusted files

You can view the exclusions that the client automatically creates.

Look in the following locations of the Windows registry:

  • On 32-bit computers, see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition\AV\Exclusions.

  • On 64-bit computers, see HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition\AV\Exclusions.

Check these Articles:

About the files and folders that Symantec Endpoint Protection excludes from virus and spyware scans

http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO54876

About the automatic exclusion of files and folders for Microsoft Exchange server and Symantec products

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102400

Hope that helps!!

Keep in mind that SEP will need to be installed after Exchange, AD, etc. for exclusions to be auto added

If you install SEP first than make the server a DC or Exchange box, exclusions will not be auto added.
