I'm having some issues with item tasks. One issue is with the built-in task called "Dell System Information" located under Connector Samples folder. By default it trieds to import the %SystemNumber%, which does not work for us since we don't use the Dell service tag as our names. So, I cloned this and placed it in the User Defined folder, then corrected this to %SerialNumber%. This works..well, at least it should work. It won't display under the right-click as a task under User Defined. The original under Connector Samples is the only one that shows up. Even logged in as the Altiris Admin. I want to disable the original Dell System Information under connector samples, but it won't let me. When I try it gives the error:
- Unable to save details. This item is marked Readonly and can not be modified. Please clone this item and edit the clone.
This is my first issue. Now for my second. I added another User Defined Item Task. This one appears for the Altiris Admin, but nobody else. I've also given everyone access to this via the permissions in the task itself too with no luck. All this does is open a URL. The URL is a web page hosted on each computer. I have it resolving the computer name with %AeX AC Identification.Name% so it takes
http://%AeX AC Identification.Name%/secure.htm and it works. It changes it to
http://PC1/secure.htm for example. The main issue with this is that it never loads the web page. But, if I click stop twice in the browser window and then reload the page it displays properly. Is there something I'm missing here??? The Dell System Information opens an external web page OK. What's different with the local page and if it were permissions, why does stopping/refreshing that same page in the same browser window work?? I'm SO confused on this one. I've tried it from MANY workstations including the NS and several different browsers. Any assistance on either topic would be really appreciated.
