Live update is not happening in my Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.3 Manager from 28-09-2011. However I can update the manager manually by downloading the latest .JDB file from symantec site. While live updates runs in the manager one error message shows "LiveUpdate encountered one or more errors.Return code = 4". Kindly provide resolution for the same.

Your SEPM is rather old.  You should upgrade to the latest RU.

    Hi,

    Reinstall liveupdate & check.

    Repair your SEPM also.

What happens when you run liveupdate manually i.e go to start--> run --> type "luall.exe"

Do you see any error after running luall.exe manually.

If possible please share show liveupdate downloads screen shot.

You will find at following path

SEPM Console --> Admin --> Servers --> Local Site --> Show liveudpate downloads

Jdb file will update only antivirus and antispyware definitions only , but it can't update PTP (Proactive threat Protection) & NTP (Network Threat Protection) definition

Check whether you can access this website on SEPM machine :  Liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com
