Hi all,

Installed LUA onto W2k3 server however it always failed to download updates.I read a few threads saying that LUA 2.1.3 will resolve this issue but it didnt work on me.My current version is 2.1.3.9.

Certains components can be downloaded.

Below are the event logs:

Failed to download file 1213832680jtun_nav2k8enn10m25.m25 while processing request id 2.

Failed to download file 1216103966jtun_nav2k8en80710039.m25 while processing request id 2.

Appreciate if anyone can assist to resolve this issue? I need to roll up this server soon.Thanks..

This appears to be a known issue that may be seen from time to time. The subsequent download should take care of this.

What we believe is happening here is that in order for LiveUpdate to retrieve the updates you need, a catalog file and the update referenced in that catalog file both need to be retrieved. The catalog file gets downloaded first.. If for some reason the catalog file is available but the update is not, then this problem could occur. Typically these files would always be available at the same time.

We are looking at making a change so as not to report this as a problem, because if either of these are not availalbe, there really is no point in even offering the new update for download/distribution.

To ensure that this is in fact the issue that is being experienced, can we ask for a copy of the log files generated by LUA? Just run debug.do by typing http://localhost:8080/lua/debug.do

We'd also recommend a support case be opened.

How often are your

1) download

2) distribution

schedules running?

Normally, the scheduled event following the event where the "issue" ocurred, should download the necessary files.

i have uploaded the log files to the site you given me in private message. Actually,i just setup the LUA server.i did a first time download and it failed. therefore i cant run the scheduled distribution at all.

is there any updates from my log files?Well i will re-run the scheduled download tonight at 10pm Singapore time and update u again

Once the download failed,the scheduled distribution will never run at all..only the download pass,then it runs..help pls!!

So the distribution should distribute what was successfully downloaded.

A workaround here is to run a download perhaps every 30 minutes and schedule a distribution for same.

The problm here is that updates have been refreshed during the download.

We should have a solution for this shortly.

i have created 3 more download jobs to run each hour tonight starting at 10pm Singapore time and one scheduled distribution to run at 2am tml morning. i will update u again the result.

One more issue to highlight is that my "distribution Center Coverage" shown red with a X(incomplete).is it because scheduled distribution never run before?

May i know when will symantec release the fix?urgently need to resolve as i'm in the midst of configuring all client to endpoint server.Thanks for your assistance...

If you have a red X for distribution center coverage then that is indicitive of having no products selected for the Distribution Center profile.

Even if you set up a Distribution Schedule, and select the products that you want to distribute updates for, unless you have gone into the Distribution Center configuration settings and added those same products to the profile for the Distribution Center, LUA won't distribute those updates.

However,my scheduled liveupdate still failed. any updates when will the fix be released?

one question to ask to clear my doubt.

if SEPM manager console,i need to configure to use liveupdate server.i just need to configure the live update server address such as http://servername:8080/clu-prod or http://servername:8080/clu-test

Correct me if i am wrong.

That should be correct regarding the SEPM console.

Stay tuned for the solution to your download schedule failure problem. Note that the next schedule will resolve the download failure, but as I noted we are looking at eliminating this error in the next release.

as for scheduled distribution & job which scheduled to "other software updates","firewall rules" & "Behavioral Crimeware Protection" are working prefectly now.

Can i direct all my current SEP client to download updates from Liveupdate Administrator although the job which download virus definition always fails? According to Activity Monitor->Request details,some virus definitions were downloaded successfully,some skipped and 4 failed. Will SEP clients be updated with latest definition in this way? if yes,i will do so while waiting resolution from you. my concern is my network bandwidth..

One thing i found out..i tested to install Liveupdate Administrator on Win XP SP2.It is able to download virus definition successfully...anything i need to change on my Win2K3 Server SP1? Pls advice

FYI, my win2k3 is running java version 1.5.0_06 whereas win xp is runnig on 1.5.0.14. is it the cause of this issue?

i updated my Java version 1.5.0_11. did a test on scheduled liveupdate and it works. so far,it has been working for these two days..will continue to monitor.

well,one question,what is min java version to run liveupdate server?
