  • 1.  LiveUpdate from behind a firewall

I have several SYM products (AV 10.x, BEWS 12.5, BESR 8.5, GSS 2.5) that I would like to update, but I am behind a firewall with no way to get out to the web. I've poked around LUA, but it does not look like it is a one stop shop...at least for the products I am using. Ultimately, I'd like to be able to download the latest patches and upgrades on a server on my outside interface, ftp over to the inside, and distribute to my server/client installations. Any suggestions?

You could do something like this with multiple LiveUpdate Servers.  The one on your outside interface would download the content from Symantec directly, then an internal LiveUpdate server would be configured to grab updates from that server in the DMZ.

    Or

You can have your internal SYmantec products connect to your DMZ based server directly to grab the updates.

There should be a method to address your needs.  PM me if you have any questions.

I would probably post this over in the Backup Exec area to see if they can give us any additional info. LiveUpdate Admin doesn't grab the Backup Exec stuff, I am unsure of how to automate this other than using the local LiveUpdate.
