LiveUpdate Express not completing

Just as LiveUpdate is trying to initialize connecting to liveupdate.symantecliveupdate.com it just freezes with 2 seconds left to complete.  I've tried uninstall/reinstall, cancelling and reperforming the operation (which just freezes the program altogether) but neither has helped.

Does anyone know what this is and how it can be fixed?

For some reason the browse wouldn't let me access the file to attach it.  But here is what the file says, hopefully this is what you were asking for:

270A040A0D1B,74,2,16,LAP1,mom,,,,,,,16777216,"TruScan has generated an error: code 11: description: Whitelist Failure",0,,0,,,,,0,,,,,,,,,,,{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000},,,,WORKGROUP,00:24:2C:B5:55:23,11.0.5002.290,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,999,,,,,

And what is an unmanaged client?

Hi, PLease post the

Hi,

PLease post the log.liveupdate as an attachment to your first post. You can edit your first post and attach the logfile.

It can be found at the location:  C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\LiveUpdate

Have you installed an unmanaged client?

Hi

May be its just taking some time
to confirm this what you can do is to run symantec in interactive mode
close all the liveupdate, kill the liveupdate in the task manager if its running
open control pannel
open symantec liveupdate
make it to interactive mode
click on okay
now click on start -run - type luall.exe
here you will see the complete download ..
it would give you an error, if any , Like LU1814 or something else.
try this and let us know the error log.

Please don't forget to mark your thread solved with whatever answer helped you : ) Rafeeq

Error Log

Is the error log I added to the initial post not what your guys are looking for?   I actually had to uninstall Symantec because I couldn't even open/install programs I needed for school.  I can always reinstall it again later.

Also, it is not a case of just taking some time.  This thing was running about 8 hours a day 5 days a week since I installed it.  It has never completed, rather it has just provided constant interruption.

Again, here is the last log from earlier today:

That is not from the

That is not from the liveupdate log and not related.....Logs should be there even if you uninstalled it....The one that Aniket suggests.....

De facto when AV does something, it starts jumping up and down, waving its arms, and shouting "Hey!  I found a virus!  Look at me!  I'm soooo goooood!"

There is nothing at the

There is nothing at the location indicated.  In fact that specific path/location doesn't exist on my computer.

Reinstall

I can reinstall it tonight, will not be able to report back again until tomorrow though.  I just downloaded AVG (free edition) because something funky is going on with this stinking computer now.  So I need to get it scanned somehow.

Cool....Later.....BTW...ftp://ftp.symantec.com/misc/tools/nss/  is also a standalone scanner and uses the same certified defs but a different engine.
